QuestionWe have two Money Trees. The one in our north east window (which is the faster growing of the two) started dropping more leaves than usual last week and some of the leaves felt sticky. I sprayed it with a Neem oil mix and watered with the mix as well. This seemed to do the trick until the last couple of days when it started looking even sicker. Our other Money Tree seems to be doing fine although since it is against and inside wall it doesn't seem to grow as fast (which is fine with us. I have digital pictures of both trees and some close-ups of the leaves on the sick tree. We have had these trees for a couple of years and would hate to lose either one. We would appreciate advice as to what we should do for the sick one, and when/how best to prune both (as even the slow growing one is about to reach the ceiling).
Thanks,
Mike
AnswerHi Mike,
Please send your photos to me at
[email protected].
The stickiness is probably due to a scale insect infestation. Pests tend to attack plants that are already under stress from something else. Because the light appears to be OK, I suspect watering may be the problem with your ailing Pachira. Be sure to include the pot in your photos. In addition, please describe your watering routines for me.
After I receive your photos I can better diagnose the problem and help you with the pruning.
Regards,
Will Creed
