QuestionI too have a spider plant that does wonderful even though I only water it one a month...if that. I put it in a large sink, soak it and leave it. This morning I saw the worms in the sink, I never have added soil in the last 5 years, Maybe the cat soiled it when I was on vacation? I'm going to remove the soil completely and wash the roots and replant. The worms only appeared after I water it.
AnswerHi Sharon,
I urge you NOT to replace the soil. That will seriously stress your plant because it will damage the tiny root hairs that do most of the work.
To treat the worms, plunge the pot in a sink or tub filled with plain water and leave it for 30 minutes. The flooding will cause the worms to rise to the surface in search of air and then you can remove them.
A second treatment in a week might be necessary.
