QuestionQUESTION: I have a Yucca Plant and one of the stalks broke off i have had the plant for a while know so i want to try to save the stalk. i stuck it in water for now but can tou fill me in on what i need to do to save it.
ANSWER: Hi Jamie,
If the stem is not too old and is still green, then it will probably develop roots in plain water. When the roots are at least an inch long, you can move it to a small pot filled with damp potting mix. Provide lots of bright light.

QUESTION: Thank you for that, but you said bright light, does that mean direct sunlight? I have also heard that lemon juice is good to, what do you think? About how long does it take for the roots to sprout? Do i put the whole stem in water?
AnswerHi Jamie,
Bright light could be direct sun or bright indirect sun, such as you get in a north window. The important thing is to avoid low light.
Lemon juice has no beneficial value.
Typically, you would see roots start to emerge in about a month and it would take another month or so for them to become an inch long. But the range of variability is considerable here.
There should be 3-6 inches of bare stem below the lowest leaves and most of that should be in water. If you have a longer bare stem, them cut it back to a length of 3-6 inches.
