REPOTTING AN INDOOR PALM

Question
I HAVE A VERY LARGE PALM THAT I HAVE REPOTTED ONCE, AND NOW IT IS SO LARGE I WAS WONDERING IF IT WOULD HURT THE PLANT TO CUT SOME OFF OF IT AND START A NEW PLANT.  IF THIS IS OKAY TO DO CAN YOU LET ME KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT IT.  THANKS!

Answer
Angela,

What kind of palm is it? Generally an indoor palm has one central growing point. It can have palm fronds removed to maie it smaller but they will not root and create separate plants. You cannot divide it into two separate plants because there is only one set of roots with one growing point. If you think there are more send me a picture of the palm so I can identify it. Otherwise your best bet is to prune it back and keep it in the same pot so it will fit in your room better. You can send your pictures to [email protected]
