QuestionI bought a Pachira tree a couple of months ago. It was about 5 1/2 to 6' tall. It has grown to approx 7'. I've been pinching out the top to keep it at a reasonable indoor size. Originally it dropped a few yellow leaves but plenty of new growth was coming on. The new growth seems to have slowed but yellowing leaves are increasing. I want to correct anything I am doing wrong asap. I water it once a week (which by that time it is completely dry). I don't let it stand in any water. It is in a south west window that is very shaded. I have fertilized once a month. Do I need to change anything, or keep on as is & keep a close eye. It does still have new grown that comes along. Some of the leaves that have not turned yellow do have a yellow spot, but not many. Hope you can help.

AnswerHi Terri,
Thanks for the detailed description. Two possibilities come to mind. On e\is that the soil me be getting too dry. What do you mean by completely dry? In general, no more than the top half-inch should get dry between waterings.
The other consideration is light. What do you mean by "very shaded?" Is it shaded from outside or is the window covered on the inside? How far from the window is it and is it off to the side of the window or directly in front of it?
I look forward to your reply, although I am off to bed soon and may not see your reply until late tomorrow.
Regards,
Will Creed
