bromeliad and pagoda plant

Question
Two questions.
If your bromeliads got frost damage, will they ever pull out of it?  I also have a pagoda plant in a large pot.  After it has bloomed, how do I trim it and does it bloom again?

Answer
Hello Janet,

I can't really say if it will pull through without seeing it. It all depends on the amount of damage and the species. Though there aren't any truly frost resistant species that i know of there are some that can handle temps down to 40F. Though as a general rule you should never let any brome get below 50F for more than an hour or two. Keep the plant in a warm bright place and cut back a little on watering, if it's a tank brome just keep the tank filled. Now it's really just a waiting game.

I hesitate to give you advice on your pagoda plant as there are about 20 plants off the top of my head that share this common name. But it should be ok to cut the dead blooms of of any flowering plant and if it's the shrub im thinking of it's ok to trim back the branches as well.

Good luck,
Justin
