QuestionI recently moved from Texas to Tenn. unfortunately, my houseplants had to ride in an open trailer as room for them in my car wasn't possible. (this broke my heart)
Most are recovering well, I am pleased to say, but I am worried about my Schefflera.
It is still alive, but just barely.
I pruned all the damages leaves off, ect.
And now it just looks so... sad.
Is there anything I can do to help it recover or is time the best thing at this point?
AnswerHi Shelli,
I am sorry you had to do that to your plants. Plants with larger leaves, likes a Schefflera, tend to do worse in a situation like that because their large leaves capture more air and get shredded more easily.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do except to provide the usual good care - proper light, water, etc. The roots should still be okay and eventually they will push out new growth that will be healthy. But it will be a long time before there is enough new growth to replace all that was lost. Repotting ad fertilizing will not help and, in fact, would probably aggravate the situation. Try to be patient.
Good luck and please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
