QuestionI live in the south of Arkansas and my windows face east or west. I have many windows and the house gets quite a bit of light during the day. What would be a nice plant to keep indoors that produces flowers? The plant would be in direct sunlight for a couple of hours in the morning if I place it on the the east facing windows. No direct sun on the west side because of tall trees in the back yard.
AnswerHi Jose,
Most flowering plants require lots of direct sun. The location you described has only limited direct sun for a couple of hours in the morning. That means there are very few flowering plants that would do well in your home.
African violets, Begonias, Gloxinias, Kalanchoes, Oxalis, Cyclamen, Christmas cactus and Phalaenopsis orchids are among the best choices for you. However, all of these would have to be right in front of the east window.
