plant roots on cuttings

Question
QUESTION: I've been growing pothos cuttings in water for 5 days now.when should i expect roots to appear

please help
Jared

ANSWER: Hi Jared,

It varies considerably. It usually takes at least 1-2 weeks before you see signs of new roots developing. Sometimes it takes a month or more. And some cuttings just never develop any roots at all.

Change the water weekly and be patient. Pot them up in a small pot only after the roots are at least an inch long.

QUESTION: thank you mr,Creed.the resent information you gave was very helpful but some leaves on the stem are turning black on the edges. What should i do now

Answer
Hi Jared,

Check your water quality. If the water is on the hard or alkaline side, then switch to filtered or distilled. That may make the difference.

Some cuttings just don't take and the leaves and stems turn black and rot. If so, just discard them and keep trying with fresh cuttings.
