QuestionMy plant is 5 years old and approx 10 " high> I was told to water it every 3 days but it is in a round ceramic bowl Approx.. 6 " in diameter and "mounded" so water runs off washing away the soil. I placed it in a large glass bowl with stones surrounding it( level with the top of the ceramic bowl) and keep the water level even with the top of the inside ceramic bowl so it draws water from below. Is this OK to insure long life or is that too much water. The vendor , Brussel's said to repot in 4 to 5 years.
Thank you
AnswerHi Patrick,
It really doesn't matter how you water as long as you are able to saturate all of the soil each time you water and then allow it to dry out some before re-wetting the soil. You cannot add too much water when you do water, but you can water too frequently. Make sure the surface of the soil is dry to the touch before watering.
I am not sure I quite understand your description of your watering technique, but if you want to email a photo to me at my address below, I might have some additional observations.
