Questionshe has a split leaf philo thats about 4ft tall but it does not have "split" leaves. Are we doing something wrong? Also, there are these greyish green looking roots coming off of the vines. What are those and do I need to do anything about them?
AnswerHi Tiphanie,
The split leaf Philodendron (Monstera deliciosa) does not develop split leaves until it is older. Nope, I cannot tell you exactly how old, you'll just have to wait and see. It is also possible that you have a different variety of Philodendron that does not develop split leaves.
The aerial rots have no function for a potted Monstera. In nature, they travel along the ground and attach to damp rain forest tree trunks and are used for support. You can cut them off of your potted plant without any harm to the plant.
