Questioni have a sedum burrito in my Chicago apartment.
It is a year old plant and it has become a spindly, dry with barely any of the beautiful whorls of leaves on it.
I had planted it in a hanging basket with new soil. The growth immediately to repotting was fast with the leaves paced far apart.
The tight whorl of extremely closely placed leaves which gives a look of a cord is completely missing.
Please advise. Thank you.

AnswerNiki,
It is not getting enough sun. To form the beautiful whorls of leaves you describe it needs lots of sun. When you repotted it did you use sandy cactus soil? Also do you fertilize it with a cactus fertilizer? It needs to be next to a south facing window that is not tinted and has no window covering so that it gets as much sun as possible all day long. Then as it grows when it gets 8 inches long or so cut 4 inches off and put that in the soil beside the original plant. It will gradually thicken the growth and the plant will become fuller. The additional sun will give you shoter internodes and whorls that you are looking for. Good luck. When you take cuttings and put them beside the original plants put any leaves that fall off in the plant also. Individual leaves will also root and grow new plants.
Good luck.
