Dick,

If there is a hard freeze you will need to protect it. A hard feeze will kill it. You could put it in a large pot and sink that in the ground that you could dig out in the case of a hard freeze or you can plan on covering it with heavy blankets in the case of a freeze. How large is it? It is a tropical plant and cannot stand a hard freeze. Good luck.
