Pothos Golden

Question
I want to start by saying i don't know anything about plants. I recently bought 2 pothos plants and one of them is growing very well while the other one isn't they are both in the same place they are in my kitchen in the windowsill with indirect light and get watered every day exactly 4 ounces. each. some of the leaves on the one that's not growing are turning yellow. my question is could they need to be repotted or am I watering to much or too little. The little pot they are in says they are regular 10.82 I guess that's how much they weigh.please give me suggestions on how to keep them alive longer and how to help them grow more I've had them about 2 months. thank you.

Answer
Hi Noemi,

It is hard to know why two identical plants in the same environment grow differently. They may be different genetically or they may have had different care before you acquired them.

Pothos do well in bright, but indirect light. Right in front of a north facing window or close to but off to the side of a window facing another direction. Just be sure that they are within 5 feet of the window and that the window is uncovered throughout the daylight hours.

Watering daily is probably too often and 4 ounces may not be the right amount. Rather than using the calendar and a measuring cup to water, use the following guidelines:

Wait until the top half-inch of the soil feels dry to the touch and then slowly add enough water until a little starts to trickle through the drainage holes. (Drainage holes in the bottom of the pots is absolutely essential.) Don't water again until the top half-inch dries out again

For now, leave your Pothos in the existing pots. If it reaches a point where the soil dries out every day or so, then it might be time to move them to a pot one inch larger.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
