AnswerHi Joanne,
It is theoretically possible to root a thin green tip cutting in plain water, but the odds are way against it.
Tip cuttings are better rooted in a small pot filled with damp potting mix and enclosed inside of a clear plastic "tent." For larger, thicker cuttings it would be necessary to air layer.
