QuestionHello,
I have a potted palm variety indoors that I brought to work yesterday for a school play. Afterward, the students put it in my car. It was about 82 degrees outside so it must've been over 100 degrees in my car. Now that it's home, it's terribly wilted and I'm afraid it's dying. I watered it as soon as I got home yesterday. So far this morning, it hasn't perked back up. Can you help?
Thanks!
AnswerHi Whitney,
In extreme heat, leaf tissue is often damaged permanently and does not recover. However, that doesn't necessarily mean your palm is dead. If the roots didn't get too dry or overheated, then the plant will be able to grow healthy new leaves.
All you can do is trim off the damaged leaves and hope that healthy new growth starts to come in within the next month.
Good luck and please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
