Questioni bought a pachira twisted tree about two months ago. It was in the kitchen
with lots of light originally. The leaves started turning yellow so i moved it to
the lounge right next to a large window. This lets in lots and lots of light. i
Have over watered the plant as when you touch the bottom of the trunk it is
very very soft. Is there anything i can do to save this plant or will it be too
damaged at the roots to save it?
AnswerStephanie,
If the trunk is soft it is too late, it is rotted from being overwatered.
If you get another one it should be moved to a pot with a diameter 2 inches larger than the one it comes in and use cactus soil for the repotting. This will give it better drainage. It should be in a pot with a drainage hole in the bottom and a drain tray under it. Pick it up immediately after repotting so you know what it weighs before watering it. When it is watered it should be well watered so all the soil in the pot is moist and an hour after watering the drain tray should be emptied. Then the tree should not be watered again until the surface of the soil feels very dry and the pot feels light weight when picked up. When treated like that it your next tree should not have a problem from being overwatered. Good luck.
