I have had a China Doll tree about 4 years, in the office, and it is now into the fluorescent lights in the ceiling, I have to prune it but am afraid to cut the main stalk, doesn't this kill the tree?  Any tips on how to cut it?  Thank you!

Is there foliage all the way down to the soil line of the plant? No, cutting the main trunk will not kill the tree but it would hav e been better to prune the tree regularly before it got so far out of hand. If you can email me some pictures I can give you some suggestions for haw far to cut it back. You should be able to prune it by about half using sharp pruning shears.  Email pictures to [email protected] if you want my advice.  Good luck.
