QuestionI hope you can help me.
I have a ficus tree that seems to have ants.
I think my tree is 4 years old. I have it indoors
and I just don't have a clue on how to get rid
of the ants.
I hope you can help.
Thank you
Annie
AnswerHi Annie,
First make sure that no one has put any food substances in the soil that would attract ants. Ants do not ordinarily feed on plants or plant roots.
Then you have two choices. One is to plunge the pot up to its rim in a tub of plant water. Leave it for a half hour. The ants will rise to the surface in search of air.
The other option is to purchase a systemic pesticide that can be mixed with after and added to the soil. Read the label very carefully and follow all precautions as pesticides are toxic.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
