Question
I just purchased 2 ZZ plants since the one I have has done so well. But I noticed dark brown splotches on both of these 14" high plants. Is this normal coloring on ZZ stems that comes with age? My other ZZ doesn't have these splotches, but is a smaller plant. The splotches are smooth to touch and the plants appear very healthy otherwise.

I have lots of ZZ plants under my care, but I am having trouble visualizing these brown splotches that you described. Are they small - about the size of a match tip? If so, they might be scale insects.
