QuestionHi, I just got cutting of both plants mentioned and would like to know the best way to start the cuttings. ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!...........................Angela
AnswerHi Angela,
Both plants are succulents and both can be propagated quite easily.
For the string of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) take a short stem with at least one "pearl" on it and insert the stem in a porous cactus potting mix that you keep moist. Use a small terra cotta pot that will dry out quickly.
For the jellybean plant (Sedum rubrotinctum), you can use a tip stem cutting or individual leaf cuttings inserted into a porous cactus mix as above. Stem cuttings root faster than leaf cuttings. The leaf cuttings should be inserted vertically with the pointed end up.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
