peace lily repotting

Question
I repotted my peace lily to a larger pot and it has done worse ever since.  I took it back to a smaller pot and it is really drooping and  looks to be over watered (a few yellow leaves)  can it still be saved or has it gone too far?

Answer
Hi Nancy,

Without actually seeing the plant and its roots, it is hard for me to determine if it has reached the point of no return. It really depends on just how bad the root rot is. If the new growth has black patches on it, then it is probably hopeless. Otherwise, let the soil dry out more and perhaps new healthy growth will gradually replace the older, unhealthy growth.

I guess you have learned the hard way the disadvantages of moving a plant into a larger pot unnecessarily. I have written articles on repotting and on peace lilies that I will send to anyone who emails a request to my address below.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
