lily plant

Question
I have this lily plant it i really like it however it looks like is is cramped. Its has really started to grow a lot and I want to know the proper technique to change it into another pot. Also can you tell me what size pot it should go into. And can I put it on my indoor porch?

Answer
Hi Naya
Water the plant a couple of days before you plan to repot it. This will help prevent damage during the repotting and to help the plant adjust to the change.
Put about an inch of soil into the bottom of the new pot then remove the plant from the pot it is in and set it down into the new pot. Fill the pot with fresh soil up to about 1 inch from the rim of the pot. Be sure the plant sets down into the soil at about the same level that it was in the old pot, plants do not like to be buried deeper than they were before.
As a general rule, you should never repot a plant into a pot more than 2 inches larger than the pot it was in before. It is best to use a pot only 1 inch larger but you can go up to 2 inches larger if you need to.
You can put the lily plant on your indoor porch as long as it gets lots of bright light and you can put it where it will get little or no direct sunlight.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
