Centipedes in my Massangeana Cane

Question
I have 2 Massangeana Canes and only one has the centipedes and they have eaten through the trunk above the roots. I have tried the water but they are in the trunk higher than the pot. What do I do about this? How do I get rid of them and if I can rid the plant of them will it survive?

Answer
Hi Sarah,

I have never known centipedes to eat through the woody cane of a corn plant. I suspect you have some other critter. Once they manage to eat through the bark layer, then it is just a matter of time before that cane dies because the damage to the cane is already done even if you do find a way to eradicate the critters.

I wish I had better news for you.

Make sure there is no evidence of them in your other corn plant.
