QuestionHi there
I have a dwarf schefflera and I was watering it once a week - and I noticed that the top soil of the pot was getting drier so I started watering it 2x a day and now the leaves are turning yellow... and it seems that they're starting to fall..oh no.. what can I do to revive it.. i love this plant and don't want it to die on me.. I've been branded as having a brown thumb by husband and this will just add insult to injury.. help... what should I do?
AnswerHi Mayi,
I am sorry that you did not fine my answer more satisfactory. In your question you stated that the reason you started watering more frequently was because the soil was getting drier not because the leaves were turning yellow. If you re-read your question, I think you will find that the clear implication was that the yellowing did not start until AFTER you started watering more frequently. Perhaps that is not what you intended, but that is what you wrote and that is all I had to go on.
I am limited in my ability to answer questions by the accuracy and completeness of the information provided. If you would like to revisit your original question, please provide more detailed information, such as your plant's size, the light it receives, and how you determine when the soil gets dry. Even better, email a photo to my email address.

Hi Mayi,
Apparently your Schefflera arboricola was doing just fine before you decided it was getting too dry. Apparently, it was not getting too dry. I suspect that if you go back to watering it once per week, then it will stop losing leaves.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
