QuestionI have been given a ficus tree. It is about 10ft. tall. It has lost a lot of its leaves and has been over watered too too much. What can I do to bring it back to life?
AnswerSonya,
Drain all excess water off immediately and do not water it again until it is very dry and light weight. Put it in a location where it will get sun all day. Ficus trees love the sun and it will recuperate faster the more sun it gets. It has probably lost the biggest share of roots. They rotted off sitting in a swamp. Now you need to give it bare minimum water and only when it is very dry. Keep it sunny and water to a minimum until you see new leaves sprouting then you will know it is going to be okay. You might want to prune it a bit so the reduced roots have less to support while they are regrowing. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
