Dying plant

Question
I have a plant from India, it is creep plant known as the betel leaf plant.  So far I have two plants which had roots.  I have one in water, and the second in a pot with soil, neither are doing that great.  Have any suggestions to improve their chance of survival.  I have them right now in the sunny taking advantage of the warm weather.  Not sure if they will survive.

Answer
Jonathon,

Where are you located? I have no experience with this plant but after consulting my references I find that it is a very tropical plant and requires high humidity, lots of sun and warm temperatures.

My referencs say that the betel leaf plant is a branching vine, that may climb as high as 10-15ft, although it often grows as an understory ground cover. The plant prefers warm, humid conditions, but can tolerate some drought. It is generally too tender to grow outside of the tropics.

So I suspect the one in the soil will do the best and it's chances will be improved if you spray it with water several times daily or place a humidifier or vaporizer near it. Also the higher the light the better.

If you have more questions I need to know where you live. Good luck.

Darlene
