Green Ivy houseplant

Question
I have a solid green ivy I received as a gift. I need to know if it will do fine about 12 feet from a south window with no obstructions. The room it is in also has a west window, and the room is always bright. The room itself measures 12 x 12, and is painted a light tan, so the light reflects well. Thanks!!

Answer
Hi Jim,

Assuming your plant is a true ivy (Hedera) and not a Pothos or Philodendron, then you are pushing its limits by having it that far from the window. It is possible for it to survive in that indirect light, but there is little margin for error with watering or repotting. You would be better off moving it closer to the window where it can get several hours of direct sun each day.

A Pothos or Philodendron would do fine in the location you described.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions about caring for your ivy.
