Dont repot your new plant!

Question
i have a corn plant (my 2nd one) and i feel like it is dying like my last one and it is only 1 week since i have it.  i repotted in a spacious pot, used miracle grow potting soil and have watered it.  it was in a room that the plant did not get direct sunlight and the leaves are turning brown on the ends and the green color is fading.  i then moved it to a sunny room that the plant does get direct sunlight and it is not improving.

HELP!  i do not want to keep letting my plants die.

Thanks,
Tonya

Answer
Hi Tonya,

I know this may come as a big surprise to you and many other readers, but repotting a new plant is one of the most common of all causes of plant problems. Contrary to popular belief, plant roots do not like "lots of room." They do best when they are quite potbound.

Excess soil in a pot that is too large retains water for too long and the roots gradually start to rot. On top of that, the process of repotting is often stressful, especially to newly acquired plants that are adjusting to a new environment.

Because repotting is such a common problem, I have written an article on this subject that I will send to anyone who sends a request to my email address below.

For the future, don't repot your new plants for at least six months and I am sure you will have better success with them.
