Lucky Bamboo (Dracaenas)

Question
A few days ago, you suggested that I pot these, rather than keeping them in water.  I'm about to do that and have a couple more questions.  Will they tolerate more light, if potted? I'd like to put them near a tall window that gets morning sun, but the info I have (for plants kept in water) indicates that they prefer indirect light. Can they be bunched together in the pot, or at least planted a few to a pot with a little space between them?  I've got ten of them and don't want to devote any more space than necessary to them.  Thank you for your generous help.

Answer
Hi herb,

Good questions.

Their ability to tolerate light is unrelated to whether they are potted in water or soil. In general, they can adapt to a few hours of morning sun without difficulty. They only need protection from mid-day sun.

Yes, you can put as many of the cuttings together in one pot as you want. It is a popular misconception that potted plants do not like to be crowded and that they compete with one another. That is not true. You can plant them as close together as your want. As long as there is enough soil to hold them in place and to keep the roots adequately moist in between waterings, then that is sufficient.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
