QuestionHello, I have just rescued 4 house plants that someone left outdoors in freezing temperatures. There is one African Violet, two Spider Plants, and one I don't know (it is a trailing plant, thick stalks and heart shaped waxy leaves. Almost all leaves on all plants are mushy. Any advice on how to care for these poor orphans??
AnswerKaren,
Probably it is too late, these are tropical plants that don't like it colder than 50 degrees. However if you have patience and want to try, then cut off all the mushy leaves even if all you have left is the roots. Keep the plants in a sunny location and keep them barely moist, definitely not wet. Then be patient and watch for signs of new growth from the roots. If you don't see any growth for 2 months it is too late but at least you tried. Good luck.
