QuestionI ahve several types of indoor plants and I am constantly getting two types of fungus that kill the plants. One type is a white powder and the other is very small tan spots that seem to start slow and spread quickly. Are you fimiliar with these and what can I do to keep them from killing my plants.
AnswerHi Nick,
The small tan spots are probably scale insects if the spots are slightly raised and scrape off easily with your fingernail.
White powder is often the description that people use for mealybugs. Mealybugs actually have a soft, cotton-like texture.
Let me know if these are the insect pests that you think you have. If you are unsure, then please send some clear photos to me at

Once I know exactly what you have, I will provide complete treatment instructions for you.
