Ficus Tree Frost

Question
I live in Texas and have had my 8 ft Fica Tree outside in the summer for years.  This year I waited too long to bring it in and now all the leaves have withered up and are dying.  Is there hope to revive my Fica Tree?

Answer
Hi Tom,

As long as your Ficus roots did not suffer a prolonged hard freeze, then there is a good chance that it will make a slow recovery.

Keep it inside immediately in front of a sunny window. Prune it back by about one-third. Any branches that are dry and brittle are dead and should be pruned off entirely. Allow the top inch or so of soil to dry out in between waterings. Do NOT repot or fertilize it until it is fully recovered.

The important thing is to be patient and to not force it into a rapid recovery.
