QuestionI bought a lovely ivy that know appears to be dying. At first I thought it might not be getting enough sun so I movedit, but it know appears more likely that I have over watered it. How much sun and water should it get? And if I have over watered it can I bring it back to life? I water it with city water that has been sitting for abit so that it has a chance to settle.
AnswerWendy,
Inspect the plant for very fine spider webs all over it. You may have to hold it up to the sun or a bright light to see them. Spider mites love to attack ivy plants.
They can kill one within 2 days. I have had experience with this.
If the plant still has some green leaves it may be able to come back. If it is totally brown it will not. Ivy's like a large north window, no sun but very bright light. They like to be very dry on the surface before being watered again. They do not like to sit with a drain tray full of water. It should be emptied an hour after it is watered. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
