QuestionI have a Dwarf Schefflera that I got from my mother's funeral. It has grown a lot in the past year and is getting very wide. I don't have a very large house and think I should trim it down a bit. Is there a way I can shape it up and trim it down without damaging the plant? This is the first plant I've been able to maintain for any length of time, I tend to over-care for plants normally but am trying to keep this one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
AnswerAmy,
Use sharp pruners and cut just above where a leave conects with a branch. You can shape it however you need to to fit your room. I do reccomend that you do not cut more than one third of the plant off. I have a dwarf schefflera that I keep as a bonsai tree and prune it regularly. It will not hurt the plant. Good luck.
