QuestionI have a large ponytail that is 20 y.o. Having recently moved to S.C. I had the plant on my screen porch and temps went to 16 degrees for 2 nights. My ponytail keeled over in half. I am devastated. Tonight I have covered it. Is it too late to save it?
AnswerHi Pam,
Ponytails are tropical in origin and do not tolerate temps below freezing very well. It might survive temps as low as 20-25 degrees. I suspect that your ponytail's exposure to 16 degree temps may prove fatal. Covering it but keeping it outside will not provide sufficient protection. If you move it inside for the winter, it might show some new growth, but I doubt it.
Sorry I don't have better news for you..
