Calamondin Orange

Question
Hello Darlene,

I hope that you can help me. I received a Calamondin Orange tree about one week ago. Since coming into my home, the tree has lost all of its leaves. The branches appear to be green and healthy, but the leaves were drying, curling, and falling off. The plant still has some oranges on it, most of them are green and still ripening. The plant receives about 4 hours of sunlight a day from a North-facing windowsill. I have watered the plant twice, as the top inch of soil was dry. I did have to stake the plant, as it was falling over when I first received it. What can I do to keep it alive?

Answer
Megan,

Where do you live and where did the plant come from? Could it have been frosted in shipment?

4 hours of sunlight a day from a North-facing windowsill is not enough light for an orange. They grow in Florida or California in full sun all day long. It needs a south facing windowsill or a 4 tube flourescent light 12 inches above the top of the tree.

What size pot is it in? Answer my questions and I will try to give you more advice.

Darlene
