QuestionHi!
My 6 year old yukka looks very sick. Bought as a very small 1 foot one, it is now nearly 4 ft. I've just moved house and that seems to have done the damage. It was in a very light and airy room at the back, opposite a S facing large bay window. For 2 months it has now been in a corner next to a S facing smaller window. I re potted it 18 months ago into a 40cm pot. The dead and decaying 'leaves' are gradually increasing in number and height up the plant. I water it weekly and feed it monthly. The water at the new house is 'hard' water...?
The soil does not look the best and is brittle.
Any advice to save its soul appreciated! (light/soil/re potting/water...)
Many thanks

AnswerAndrew,
Move it to in front of the south facing window and keep the drapes or window covering open all day so it gets some actual sun. This plant loves and needs the sun. Also cut back on watering, water it every 2 weeks. Yucca plants are desert plants that need to dry out thoroughly between waterings. Mine sometimes goes 3-4 weeks without water during the winter. The hard water should not cause a problem, it is preferable to softened or city water.
Do not repot it until spring. The best time to repot any houseplants is between April 15th and June 15th when the days are longer. When you rpot do not go to a pot larger than 2' diameter larger than the current pot. Also use a sandy soil for cacti. If you have more questions write again. Good luck.
