QuestionI have this 8" indoor palm that i just bought less thena month ago. It is growing this white fuzzy mold all on the soil. IS there some kind of mold killer that i can put in teh water to kill and prevent this mold?
AnswerHi Kat,
The best thing I have found to use on soil mold is a antifungal liquid called Consan 20. You can find it at your local nursery or garden center. Since it can be used for other things all over the house you might be able to find it at a home improvement store as well.
Mix it according to the directions on the bottle and put it in a spray bottle. It is a good idea to have a few small spray bottles on hand. I get them at walmart for .50 cents.
Carefully scrape a thin layer off the top of the soil. Be sure that you scrape off all the soil with mold. Spray the Consan 20 on the soil surface and the inside rim of the pot. It is ok if some gets sprayed on the plant stem. Repeat this treatment every other day until mold has stopped growing back.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
