QuestionThank you. Appreciate your time. Only one thing: Could you be very specific as to how, when, etc. I harvest the seeds. Right now, none of my coleuses have flowers.
Do I cut the flower off and shake out the seeds or is there another way to harvest them. Thanks, pv.

-----Question-----
i read your answer to growing them indoors from cuttings, which is what I did last winter with 6 (one survived to grow all summer outdoors). Now I have over 50 in potts recentenly brought indoors as the temps dropped below 32 here in Marietta, GA.
How do we grow them from seeds? Obviously we do not pinch back the flowers, but how do I distinguish seeds from fly specks? Must they dry out? Thanks, paul
-----Answer-----
Hi Paul,
Just plant seeds on a tray filled with peat and perlite. I also as vermiculite.
Add seeds and cover lightly and water thoroughly and put in medium light to shade.
The seeds are bigger and yes they should dry out a bit before planting.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Tracy
AnswerHi Paul,
I am sorry for the delay in answering your question.
To be honest, I have never harvested seeds from Coleus before. I have only dealt with seeds after they have already been harvested. Once Coleus is allowed to go to seed it has fulfilled it's lifecycle and dies so I have always pinched off the flower buds before they bloom and never allowed any Coleus to produce seeds. I have always either bought Coleus seeds or propagated Coleus from stem cuttings. I have noticed that propagating Coleus from cuttings produce better plants than ones grown from seeds.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Tracy
