QuestionI have a beautiful 4-ft. tall Pointsettia that has been growing in the ground for about 4 years, but it has outgrown it's spot. Can I transplant it?
Or, can I transplant it into a pot?
AnswerCarol,
If you dig it up and move it you will loose any blooms this year. It is best to transplant it after it finishes blooming. If you transplant it to another location in the ground you need to move as much of the rootball as possible and try to disturb the roots as little as possible. After transplanting you need to prune off any flower buds and at least 25% of the top. If you transplant it into a pot make it a pot that is the same size as the rootball and then prune off any flower buds and at least 50% of the top. This plant loves the sun. The more sun it gets the more blooms you will get. I am assuming that you know how to make it bloom since you have had it for 4 years. If not write again and I will send you instructios. Good luck.
