QuestionI didnt bring my peace lilly indoors on time, and it got caught out in a frost. I brought it indoors the next day, but most of the leaves have turned black. Have I killed it or can it be saved??
It's a two year old peace lilly in a larg pot. I live in NE alabama (zone 7)
AnswerLaura,
Peace lillies are very tropical plants. In fact they should be brought in when the temperatures start dropping below 50 degrees at night. Personally I do not put mine outdoors at all because I live in a windy location and the wind is very hard on peace lilly plants. It is probably dead but if you have a bright location I would cut the foliage down to the surface of the soil and set the plant aside for awhile and see if it sends out new growth. There is a 50% chance it will send out new growth from the roots. If you see any new green growth start watering it lightly again and fertilize it once a month. Be very careful not to overwater it. If there are no signs of growth within 3 months then the plant is dead. Good luck.
