QuestionI received a dumbcane from a friend 2 years ago and it's about as tall as I am. I'm going to be moving from VA to FL at the end of next month and was wondering how I can tranport it without killing it or causing it go into shock. I have an SUV and my husband has a truck without a camper/cover so I don't know which would be best in moving it, again without damaging it.
Thanks.
AnswerTricia,
Put the pot in a large plastic bag and twist tie it around the base of the plant. Then take a sheet or heavy paper and carefully wrap the top portion of the plant carefully folding the leaves up so they don't get damaged. Fasten the sheet or paper with twist ties, at Walmart you can buy spools of twist tie wire that you can cut to any length. Move the plant in your suv unless the temperature is above 60 degrees during the day and night. If possible move it standing up but if that is not possible you should be able to lie it down if it is wrapped the way I explained above. If it is above 60 degrees and you move it in the back of the truck be sure to wrap it anyway so the wind does not damage it.
After you get moved and set up let me know how it went. Good luck.
