I am not sure I understand your question, but I will try. Please et me know if I am misunderstanding you.

I think you are asking me what is the appropriate distance between medium light plants and overhead fluorescent lights. Plants that require medium light should be no more than 12-18 inches from the fluorescent lights. Low light plants can be several feet from the lights. High light plants should be within a few inches of the lights.

However, if there is also natural light available to the plants, then the fluorescent lights could be farther away.
