Dear Will,

I have a rare, unique, fast-growing plant that I'm considering selling cuttings of on Ebay. I only know it as a pussy plant, not it's botanical name.  My questions is: I only have one pussy and am wondering if it will harm the plant if I take frequent cuttings as demand for this marvelous plant increases.

Hi Ms. Box,

Pussy ears plant or Cyanotis somaliensis is a fleshy stemmed succulent plant with fuzzy leaves gray green that resemble a cat's ear.

You can take as many cuttings as you like without harming your pussy plant. However, at some point your pussy plant may look so shorn that it may no longer seem attractive to you or others. Taking pussy plant cuttings is a lot like personal grooming - it is a matter of personal taste as to how you want it to look.
