QuestionI work in a garden shop and we have books there but not to good on being able identifying plants in a orderly time frame in order to service the customer better and find what they want more quickly??? Can you relate to that ??/
AnswerJohn,
I received my first house plant 50 years ago when I had my tonsills removed. I have raised over 200 haouse plants a year for the last 15 years. I have a library of over 50 plant books. In answering these questions I can usually guess the id of many plants from written descriptions. If not, I ask the questioner to email me a picture. The internet is an excellent resource for identifying plants. I also have the help of a couple of friends. If I cannot identify the plant they can. I am not bragging, I just have a lot of experience.
My pet peeve is nurseries that sell plants to garden shops without proper identification. I think it should be illegal!
You are welcome to send me pictures of plants you cannot identify to
[email protected] and I will do my best to identify it for you. You can also refer your customers to this website.
