QuestionHello,
I am extremely unexperienced in caring for plants, I recently took a tall (about 1 meter) Dragon Plant from my fathers house into my apartment. It seemed to be fine at the time but after a few weeks of looking after there is white furry mould looking covering on the soil and near to the root of the plant. At first i thought if might have occurred as a result of forgetting to water for about 5 days, but is still there. Hope you can help me! P.s should I be feeding or spraying anything special as at the moment i am just watering.
Regards.
AnswerGeena,
Apparently it is in poor quality potting soil that does not have enough perlite in it giving it plenty of oxygen in the soil and you are watering it too much. It needs to dry out totally between waterings. You should not be watering more often that every 7-14 days, only when it is very dry and light weight.
Spray the surface of the soil with Lysol Spray to kill the mold and remove the drain tray on the plant and set it in the bathtub to drain off excess water. Then do not water again until the plant feels dry. The problem will go away as you keep it a bit dryer. Good luck.
