QuestionI received a peace plant a few months ago and dont' know how often to water it. It is still in it's orginal pot but the smaller leaves (down near the soil) have died and withered up. The rest of the plant looks good, but I don't want to kill it. I am getting ready to repot it soon and won't touch the roots. So how often should I be watering it?
It is also in indirect bright light
AnswerHi Shannon,
It is not uncommon for small lower leaves to die back. I often cut them off before they wither. So I don't think you have a problem.
It is good that you have kept your peace illy in its original pot. Bright indirect light is also appropriate.
Water it thoroughly whenever the soil surface feels almost dry or when the leaves start to wilt a bit, whichever comes first. If it reaches the point where it seems to need water every couple of days, then you can consider moving it into a pot that is one inch larger.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
