QuestionI have two pits that I am growing and am wondering what is the best way to grow them. One has been growing for 6 weeks. Still no roots, the other has small roots and alot of fuzz around it. It also has a crack in the top. Is there a quicker way to grow this or a better method than keep it in water.
AnswerThis is not my area of expertise, and I have never grown an avocado. However, I have heard that the best way to get one to grow is to take the pit, as you have, suspend them in a glass jar with 2-3 toothpicks inserted into the pit, with just the bottom of the pit in some water. You will have to keep daily check to keep the water level up. It can take up to 6-8 weeks to see sprouting. Other than this, I have no knowledge of a better way to do it.
