Ficus Tree basics

Question
How do I take care of my new Fica Plant?

Answer
Hi Maurie Ann,

There is much to understand about Ficus trees. So much so that I have written an article on Ficus care that I will send it to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to my email address below.

Here are the basics.

Ficus trees are very light sensitive and they drop lots of leaves every time they are relocated. These leaves will gradually be replaced by new leaves that are adapted to the light in the new location. This process can take up to 6 months, so be patient.

Your Ficus tree needs to be in front of an unobstructed window, the sunnier the better. If you cannot provide this, then you and your tree are going to have a hard time.

Keep your tree in its existing pot as repotting will add to its stress right now.

Water it thoroughly as soon as the surface of the soil feels very dry.

Fertilize it monthly at half strength.

My article has other information on Ficus pruning, pest, etc.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.

If this information has been helpful, please take the time to give me a rating and nomination.
